John Kun Park
Tenor John Kun Park began the 2024-2025 season with Opera on the James, debuting as Rodolfo in La Boheme, then joining New Performance Traditions for a new composition production of Both Eyes Open by Max Duykers. His current season will continue with Opera Grand Rapids as Loud Stone in Eurydice by Matthew Aucoin and with West Bay Opera in the title role of Otello.
In recent seasons, John has sung Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca with Opera Modesto (CA), Erik in Der Fliegende Hollander with West Bay Opera (CA), Bacchus in Ariadne Auf Naxos with Berlin Opera Academie, Ismaele in Nabucco with West Bay Opera, Erste Konig in Der Liebe Die Danae with Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Tenor I in The Tibetan Book of the Dead with Opera Grand Rapids and Don Jose in Carmen with Central City Opera. At Lancaster’s Penn Square Opera for their Opera Couples Therapy concert, he headlined signature pieces and duets from Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana and Tosca. Last season, he finished with Mid America Productions at Carnegie Hall as their guest Tenor Soloist for Mozart’s Coronation Mass. John has covered Adolfo Pirelli and Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd with Des Moines Metro, Rick in I was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I saw the Sky with InSeries Opera Washington, DC and Canio in I Pagliacci with Opera Tampa.
John has performed with various other companies, debuting roles such as Siegmund in Die Walkure, John Adams in Gertrude Stein & Virgil Thompson’s The Mother of Us All, Anatol in Vanessa and the title role in Faust. He has also been a featured soloist with LA Philharmonic, Chautauqua Opera and Sarasota Opera. He was a finalist for the Wagner Society of New York’s competition and received an encouragement grant. John makes his Boheme Opera NJ company and role debut in this production of Il Trovatore.
